The China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Expo(Macao) was held from October 16th to 19th, 2024 in Hall A of CotaiExpo at The Venetian Macao, with more than 200 booths, attracting more than 180 governmental units, business associations and enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries to participate in the Expo. The exhibition covered investment environment and project promotion, agricultural technology and machinery, agricultural products, wine, leisure food, coffee, cultural and creative products, finance, cross-border e-commerce, logistics and freight forwarding, etc., which helped visitors to grasp the new business opportunities of economic and trade development in Portuguese-speaking countries and to promote more cooperation.


A series of economic and trade promotional activities for Portuguese-speaking countries were also organized during the period, including the “14th Jiangsu-Macao-Portuguese-speaking Countries Business Summit”, “Fujian-Macao-Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation and Exchange The “14th Jiangsu-Macao-Portuguese Speaking Countries Business Summit”, “Fujian-Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation and Exchange Meeting with Portuguese Speaking Countries”, “China-Angola Investment and Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum”, etc., were organized to create a fusion of exhibitions, forums and conferences, project promotion, and business matching and negotiation, and to enhance the interaction with the businessmen. The “China-Angola Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum” is dedicated to creating an integrated scenario of exhibition, forum, project promotion and negotiation, increasing the interaction effect with the visitors, experiencing the products and services of Portuguese-speaking countries, and building a platform for the full cooperation between Chinese and Portuguese enterprises. The “China-Angola Investment and Economic Cooperation Forum” successfully attracted more than 180 representatives of governments, chambers of commerce and enterprises from Mainland China, Angola and Macao. The Forum focused on Angola's potential industries and business environment, providing new opportunities for cooperation between China and Angola, as well as between China and Angola and the rest of the world. In addition, the inauguration of the Haisan Group's headquarters for Portuguese-speaking countries in Macao was held at the same event, marking the further development of Macao's advantages as a platform for Sino-Portuguese cooperation.


This year's event cooperated with renowned wine and spirits judging organizations in the Mainland and the Guangzhou Coffee Industry Association to organize the “G100 International Wine and Spirits Competition” and the “Coffee Bean Selection Award Ceremony for Portuguese-speaking Countries”, with a view to establishing influential industry competitions and extending the effectiveness of the MICE platform. The two competitions attracted nearly 30 exhibitors. The representative of Villa Milena Agricultural Import & Export Co., Ltd, the winner of the “Excellence of the Year Award”, said that the company's agricultural investment in Portugal not only promotes local employment, but also strengthens the trade ties between China and Portugal. Through the MIF platform, Villa Milena hopes to increase cultural and commercial exchanges between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and at the same time expand the influence of its brand in the Chinese market, introduce Portuguese wines to the Mainland Chinese market, and add bricks and mortar to the Sino-Portuguese cooperation. 


During the fair, the “Matching Session for Products and Services from Portuguese-speaking Countries” was also held, with the participation of representatives from traders in wine, food, beverage and logistics, and more than 60 matching sessions were arranged to promote economic and trade exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as between Portuguese-speaking countries and the rest of the world, and to provide substantive business matching opportunities for the enterprises participating in the fair. This year's event not only strengthened Macao's role as an international trade and economic hub for Portuguese-speaking countries, but also provided substantive business matching opportunities for participating enterprises.
